More information regarding the Junior Chamber International can be found on www.jci.cc. What goes on at your Jaycees meetings? Our General Membership Meetings (GMM's) usually occur the 3rd Wednesday of the month (depending on holidays) at 6pm. Many times, our meetings are held at businesses where we are able to tour as part of our Individual Development area. We highly value the act of learning more about Omaha, and we take these opportunities to enhance our business-related knowledge. The evening usually involves a short (20-30 minute) description of our upcoming events, followed by our special guest or tour. Our goal time of our meetings is usually 60-90 minutes, depending on our special guest or tour. Are the Jaycees just about volunteering and socials?
No! Although many of the activities on our calendar may look like just socials and community service opportunities, there are many things that goes on behind the "stage." We try to give our members more than what they expect! Sometimes our events involve some personal/professional development. Tours of businesses may occur following a meeting or during a happy hour. Volunteering with an organization may involve learning more about the politics or public need for that organization. In addition, management trainings are being offered to our board members, and any member interested in chairing events or projects (just ask a board member for the opportunity). Is attendance mandatory at any of the Omaha Jaycees events? NO. You may attend as many or as few events as you wish! Just know that the more you participate, the more benefit you will receive from becoming a member. There are many opportunities available that suit a wide variety of needs: Social Networking, Business Networking, Leadership Development, Community Involvement, and Individual Development. Can I put my Jaycees activities on my resume?Yes.
